Pretty yummy
If you're looking for a great pho soup, you come to the right place. It's simple straightforward and nothing complicated about it but here's where you can get your fix and be full walking out. All at a reasonable price. I personally like the number one the special with everything, but everybody has their own unique likes and dislikes. The fish here is actually not that bad either.
great service and friendly staffs
This place is a classic Vietnamese restaurant! If you’re looking for pho, you’ll get it here. Their spring rolls stand out the most, but not their pho. Their beef broth is not the best I have had, but they do give a lot of meat, so that becomes very filling. Their service was also alright, and not the best. After serving our food, we got no service at all. Barely welcomed to our table and when the server came up to take our order (nicely he spoke the same language as my parents), he basically kept forcing his suggestion to order a certain dish instead of the one my mom originally wanted. Very forceful and she didn’t end up liking the suggestion at all. The service puts this place at 3 stars at best.
Staff is decent in getting orders ready in a timely manner. Food is good and the other location on Baxter Street is the same. Just wish that they didn’t raise their price.
Always come here for the classic number 1 beef broth soup. Basically a humongous bowl with beef sweet broth and noodle that takes half of the table. The big size run for only $10 dollars and 4 shrimp rolls for $5. Delicious and inexpensive for lunch+dinner.
This is just as good as any Vietnamese restaurant I've. Food was expedited quickly and delicious. I ordered the #55 on the menu which was grilled beef rolls over rice noodles with a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Good stuff and definitely will entertain this again.
Great Vietnamese food at a reasonable price. Always busy and very popular
The pork chop was soo good! I just had to say that first. The food was fullfilling, the portions were large, the price just right. Good place for lunch.
Pretty good Vietnamese food! It comes out quickly as well and the portions are generous. I got the Vietnamese steak with fried rice and it was delicious, whatever sauce they use for the steak is really, really good!
My favorite viet place to eat. The pho is so big and filling it makes my trip worth it. I return to this store once every month because I miss their pho and spring rolls. You should definitely try it out if you're a big pho fan.
Cheap and fulfilling Vietnamese comfort food.
Vietnam restaurant always gives you much more amount of food you can take, this is satisfying to me. High quality-price ratio, light seasoned soup compared to other Vietnam restaurants(this is a good spot for me), will visit again.
Pretty good food. Sort of inflexible on meal substitutions but otherwise its fine
They added the tip in the bill as if we weren't going to tip. Service could've been better.
Very tasty food and quick service. One of the better restaurants in China Town that I've visited.
Walked by this place for years and finally got a chance to try it. Delicious authentic Vietnamese cuisine and energy. The only thing missing from completing the authentic experience is eating on tiny plastic chairs on the street (as they usually do in Vietnam). The Pho was delicious and the portion very generous.
Really good food. The pho portions are great
Great Pho and they accept Visa and Mastecards.
My favorite place.
Very good Pho Soup. Quick service. No frills. Tasty grilled pork chops dish. Excellent for a quick stop to try some good vietnamese food and continue Chinatown visit.
Veg pho in beef broth is one on the best I've had.
My FAVORITE pho spot in the City. 5/5- food5/5- value5/5- home-y feelTo me, the perfect pho has a few components that have to be executed perfectly. 1. Broth- deep and rich beef flavor, spiced with perfectly roasted aromatics, not a lot of MSG, not too oily, and not watered down. 2. Noodles- not stuck together (if they're stuck together then they were cold in the bowl and sitting there before the broth got poured on top) perfectly cooked al dente, and enough to fill my belly3. Meat- quantity, quality, variety Nam Son has all three of these qualities in one bowl. When I am in the city I eat here on average 1x/week. It never gets old and it just makes me feel so comfortable and haply after the meal. It's just a staple. They take card and cash. Service is fast. You won't regret the decision to eat here.I'm super picky with my pho but this place is pretty awesome.
Came here for lunch it was recommended by people near by. The service was horrible and the food is mediocre. Pho was kind of salty for our taste. We had 3 people the server sat us near the bathrooms which had a horrible smell. We asked for a new table. The server rudely sat us at a new table with 2 menus and 2 tea cups for 3 people. After the food was brought out there was no service at all. When we were paying the cashier keep asking us for tips and told us what we tipped wasn’t enough people usually give 18%. That was the first time someone has ever asked me to tip them 18% for horrible service. Do not recommend this place!!!!
One of my top spots for quality Vietnamese food. i give this place two thumbs up. prices are decent.
Haven’t been since quarantine, but finally had a chance to get their takeout. Still super good, friendly staff, fast service. Support your local business!
I loved this pho place, but I feel that there was a change in the food. The pork I remember back in the day (I sound old) was more juicer and thicker, but it was a bit dry and very thin too. However, the pho noodle was good! My friends and I decided to order a small calamari and we loved it! Just to tell you it’s not your Italian calamari style, but the Asian way. The sauce that came with the calamari was the BOMB!
My family and I like the beef dishes here.
One of the better Vietnamese restaurants. The Pho is authentic and other dishes are delicious. They ran out of the Saigon Sub but then again, it was in the evening. The 3 bean rainbow drink is always a great dessert to follow up the meal.
Hearty pho noodle soup tastes great, especially on a cold day. Shrimp spring rolls tastes homemade - highly recommend to try.
Great quality vietnamese food. Pretty authentic rice dish and pho. Pho with pork chop is a bit thick but it's always nicely glazed in their sauce. I would highly suggest #1 Pho. Consist of a variety of different part of the beef. The broth are often refreshing. Summer rolls are hit or miss. Sometimes it comes out cold, sometimes its room temperature. Preferably room temperature allows the rice paper to soften. Spring rolls are nicely deep fried. I would recommend eating in rather than take out. Take out and cause the solidification of the soup. Once the soup solidifies, chunks of fats sometimes floats on top.
They used to be great(5stars). Recently hired staff refuse to give me a separate table when I asked even when I said it was cold near the entrance. They made me share with another person at a table near the door. Food is so so. Try Cong Ly down the street. It’s a block from subway, but service is better
I like this pho spot cuz they offer fresh jalapeño peppers oppose to fresh Thai chili peppers - pho is good along with their spring rolls
The space is surprisingly large and the service is fast and great. The menu has your typical Vietnamese options plus some extra dishes that one can expect in Chinatown. My recommendation is to have the pho (any of them). The broth is so delicious, very light but amazingly savory. I ordered the pho that comes with all of the meat options (I forgot the name). This one is great if you love to have a lot of extra options with your pho. It made me super full though and I could not finish the broth which is usually my favorite part. Opt for one of the other pho's with only one meat option if you are like me as well. The meatballs were so good, I'll get just that one next time!
One of our favorite inexpensive places to eat in Chinatown.
First time here and ordered frog with lemongrass over rice. The staff was really friendly and was able to accommodate my need to make my dish less spicy. Price was good for the portion and the frog was pretty meaty and tender. Also tried the beef tendon noodle soup and the beef was really tender and chunky and full of flavor. They also have spring rolls and you can wrap them with lettuce leaves, gives it a refreshing taste on top of the crunchiness. Overall good place, good for big group, tasty food, and fast service.
Pretty good overall, spring rolls and rice dishes are on point. The Pho is not exactly for me. The meat a little too fatty ,the tendon and tripe are in bigger pieces than I'd like.
My family has been going here for years, the food is pretty on point. I'd recommend it for sure. Reasonable prices too.
i had a great experience here, ordered a bowl of pho with beef and carrots, it’s spicy and i love it.
The food is decent but took 30min to pick up my takeout. Horrible long waits! The cashier kept on forgetting who I was and asked if I was eating in after clearly ordering from him and inquiring on the status of my order. Will skip this location from now on with better Vietnamese food.
Cheap and good Vietnamese restaurant!! Every time I'm around I stop for a Bánh mì (their sandwich)... Place is clean enough and they have enough servers so you don't wait much time... The soup comes very fast, usually is 2-3 minutes after I order...
Come here pretty often as the food is good and the prices are pretty decent. Most of the nearby places are inferior compared to Nam Son in terms of flavor. Have always enjoyed every visit so far
Be prepared to eat! Very large and filling dishes with fresh ingredients! The service was very fast and accommodating as well!
Notbad, but compared to pho king, they are set at a slightly higher price with less pho. Not as filling
9.8.19 - they do a great lemon grass grilled chicken over rice. Their pho isn't bad, either. Super nice service, clean tables, good pricing. Great for families or a quick bite. Accepts credit cards.
A must go if you’re in Chinatown. In my experience there wasn’t any wait time and got seated right away even though this place can be really packed after 6pm. The staff is very quick and courteous. Food is very enjoyable and affordable. Can be noisy due to the amount of people.
Food is pretty good here and the value is superb. I've done more takeout but have also sat down - service is prompt and the place is never too crowded. One of the better Pho offerings in the area. Roughly 15 minute wait for takeout
🍵 🥢 🍜 🍋 🌶 🥣 ☕️Nam Won Restaurant located on Grand Street in Chinatown, NYC serves Vietnamese food. They are down the street from the NYC MTA Grand Street Station, and they are half a block from the M103 bus stops (both the Uptown to Harlem, and the Downtown to City Hall. The food is fresh and properly cooked, the texture of the food is adaquate. I usually get the Spring Roll with cold noodles, or the Grilled Pork Chops in hot borth and noodles. The staff polite , attentive, friendly and professional. A good deal pricewise. .
Friendly service and staff. We come here often because they are consistent. Food comes out quickly and is fresh. Must have's are the fried rolls for apt. Pork chops are also a solid pick. Usually go with the pork chop with soup combo.
Honestly the food is cheap and fulfilling. It is very very very much run of the mill Vietnam food. It's not bad. You will get the same in every Vietnam restaurant. Relatively, their ingredients is good, fresh, especially at this price.I see more tourist then locals. That's fine for a business I guess. It doesn't matter who is your patron as long as they come in. I think the reason is that for this quality, the local has many other choices, and cheaper choices. Tourist on the other hand ain't gonna mind if they spent an extra few dollars. I know cuz I am local. #1 down side, slippery floor!!!!
